Dynamic Web Template Information:

Setting Standards:

The theory behind the Consortium's guidelines is that if ALL template designers use the same editable region area names, then you could change the look of your entire web site by just applying a new dynamic web template.

 

FrontPage Dynamic Web Template Overview:

A Dynamic Web Template's main purpose is to make it easy to design a new web (or rebuild your current web) without having to worry about how the pages are structured. You concern yourself with adding content, product catalog images, shopping cart features, etc.

CSS Basics:

Anatomy of CSS:

Editing Style Sheets:

Create a Class:

From time to time, you may find that your particular web site could use a special "class" defined in the style sheet.

 

Internal Style Sheets:

In FrontPage 2000 and 2002, some formatting features are now automatically applied as inline styles.

 

CSS Templates:

A CSS/HTML template is a collection of pre-designed web pages, just like any other template, except that it has one very special additional page called a style sheet.

Cleaning House:

FrontPage 2002 can show you at a glance which images and pages are being linked to and which ones aren't. The stragglers that have no active link are not being used and may be able to be deleted.

 

Cut and Paste:

You may wish to paste text from an application such as Microsoft Word. While you can directly copy and paste, FrontPage will usually add in a lot of formatting information that may not display correctly on all browsers. Go here to learn the right way to copy and paste.

Redirects:

At some point, you may want to have a navigation button link that will take the viewer to a page that is not included in your web site. For example, you may want to allow a viewer jump to another one of your web sites, to a special password protected area, or to a search engine page.

Include Pages:

In many ways an include page is much like a shared boarder only much more versatile as it can be placed anywhere on the page. Just as with a shared boarder you can use it for your page banner area and copyright or footer.

If you wish to sell products or services from your site, you will need some method of taking payments and delivering the product.

Dynamic HTML Effects:

You can apply Dynamic HTML (DHTML) animation effects to just about anything on a page — text, paragraphs, pictures, buttons, marquees, and so on — and tie the effect to a trigger event, such as clicking a mouse, pointing a mouse, loading a page, and so on. You can create an animation that makes text fly in from the right when the page is loaded.

 

Working with Forms:

Form Results Action:

Learn about form results actions and how to change the results from the default setting to one of your own.

 

JavaScript's:

Cool little information pop-up windows, date and time stamps, nifty effects, and other bits of magic can easily be done with java scripts. You can find dozens of sites which offer free java scripts by going to your favorite search engine and typing in "free java script" as your key words.
