Tables and Cells

Go to Table / Insert / Table. A dialog box will pop up where you may set the properties of the table.

  • Rows & Columns - How many rows and columns you want.
  • Alignment - Left, Right, or Centered, relative to the page.
  • Width - How big you want your table to be. You can have a fixed width (in pixels) or a width relative to the page (in percent -- it will resize automatically when you resize your browser window).
  • Border size - How wide you want the outside border to be.
  • Cell padding - The space the edge of the cell and what's inside the cell.
  • Cell spacing - The space between cells.
Manipulating the Table and Cells

1. Colors & Backgrounds

You may change the colors or use a background picture for the table or for individual cells. Right-click on the table or cell that you want to adjust.

Row 1, Column 1 Row 1, Column 2
Row 2, Column 1 Row 2, Column 2
  • To change colors of individual cells, select Cell Properties, go to the Background section, and select a background color (you may also use a background image instead by choosing a graphic). In this example, our cell background color is blue.
  • You may also change the color of the border for individual cells. Once again, select Cell Properties and this time change the border color. In this example, our cell border color is white.
  • The background color of our table is lavender, and the border color is green. Select Table Properties to adjust the background and border colors of the table.
  • Note: If you are using a theme, you cannot change the border colors unless you apply an inline style by clicking on the "Style" button in the Table Properties Window. Here, you may also make changes to the width, cell spacing, and cell padding.

2. Text Alignment

You may change the alignment of text within a cell. Right-click on the cell that you want to change, and use the drop-down menus to change the vertical or horizontal alignment.

Vertical align = "bottom" Vertical align="top" Vertical align="middle" (default)
Horizontal align = "left" (default) Horizontal align="right" Horizontal align="center"

Tip: Copying A Table

You can also copy a table to another page or place on your page. To do this go to Table / Select / Table, then Right Click / Copy. Place your cursor where you want to put the new box and Right Click / Paste.
