Keyboard Shortcuts

Getting to know FrontPage's keyboard shortcuts and right-clicking will help you be more efficient.

Right-Clicking
  1. Right-click to quickly access table, cell, picture, theme, or page properties.
  2. Right-clicking on an object (navigation bar, picture, table, etc.) will generally allow you to access the properties.
  3. If you see a "Style" button in a properties window, you can apply CSS to that object.
Keyboard Shortcuts

Here are a few of the keyboard shortcuts we use most often:

Line Break Shift-Enter
Picture Properties Click on picture, then type Alt-Enter (or right-click)
Hyperlink Highlight the word or graphic and type Control-K
Navigation Bar Properties Click on navigation bar, then type Alt-Enter (or right-click)
Inserting a row at the end of a table While you are in the last cell, type Tab and a new row will automatically be inserted.
Select everything on the page Control-A
Undo Control-Z
Redo Control-Y
Save Control-S
Switch between open files Control-Tab
Refresh page (helpful after saving files) F5 (also works in browser)
Copy Control-C
Paste Control-V
Bold Control-B
Italic Control-I

Q: How do I keep my lines from having wide spaces between them?

A: Use a Line Break. To insert a line break (without starting a new paragraph), go to Insert and select Break (it may be on the hidden menu). The keyboard shortcut is to type Shift-Enter for a line break.

An example of Line breaks is

With Line Breaks Without Line Breaks
This is my first line
This is my second Line
and this is my third line
This is my first line

This is my second line

This is my third line

As you can see using line breaks can keep your content more compressed. It is especially important when you want to keep same information together.

Q: How can I move from Page to Page in my web without having to open each page from the Window menu or my Folder List?

A: A handy keyboard shortcut is to use Control-Tab to switch between pages.

FrontPage 2002 now has page tabs to help you switch between multiple pages more easily, you can simply click on the page tab to switch pages.
