Ok Great. now we have completed some minor formatting for our page. Lets close the page and select our submission_form.asp page. After loading the page, scroll down the the area that has Choice - Option 1 to Option 4 and "rename" the options by highlighting the text and typing over it. See the example at left. For our example we will rename Option 1 to FrontPage resources, Make Option 2 - News, Make Option 3 - Research, and Option 4 - My Favorites |
Ok Save and close the submission_form.asp page. Next open or toggle the Folder List so you can see the directory tree and open the LinkList_Interface by clicking on the plus sign next to it. Next open Results, Next open editor. We will need to make some modifications to the edit.asp page so double click on the page icon next to "edit.asp" and open it. |
Now slide down the page and look for Choice Option 1 to Option 4 and rename them as we did on the previous page. After you have renamed the Options Save and close the page. see the example to the left. |
Ok we will need to open our "results_page.asp" page and add a hyperlink to a database result. Doing this will allow you to click on the result when viewing the page on the web through your browser and allow you to link to other sites, pages, bookmarks etc. After selecting the page, place your cursor on the <<URL>> and right click on it. In the dialog box select by clicking on - "Database Column Value Properties" |
Ok next place a check mark in the Display as hyperlink box and click - OK. You will notice a line appear under <<URL>> creating a hyperlink. Save your work and close the page.
You will need to create a new blank page to be added to your site. If you already have a blank template page, use it, and make a new page named - "my_link_list_example.asp" Another way to do this would be to open an existing page on your site. Then go to - File then choose "Save As" Next in the file name box enter - "my_link_list_example.asp" (with out the quotations) and Make the Title of the page - "My Link List Example" Click Save and then close the page. |
Now we want to open the "database_editor.asp" page. In this step we will add two hyperlinks to the page for navigation reasons. This will give you a way to get back to your Home page or to the "My Link List Example" that your site visitors will be viewing. Place your cursor behind the last link in the top right cell called Database Editor and hit "Enter" one time, this will move your curser down to the next line. Type My Home Page and Link List leaving a space between them. now place your curser between them and choose - "Insert" then - "Symbol" See example to the left. |
