Cut and Paste

You may wish to paste text from an application such as Microsoft Word. While you can directly copy and paste, FrontPage will usually add in a lot of formatting information that may not display correctly on all browsers.

To get rid of the formatting information:

  1. Paste in the text from the outside application (like Microsoft Word) into a plain text editor such as Notepad. Notepad will automatically remove unnecessary coding generated by MS Word.
  2. If you do need to copy and paste directly from another program, highlight the text you just pasted in.
  3. While the text is highlighted, go to Format | Remove Formatting (or type Control-Shift-Z or Control-Spacebar)

Like most Windows-based programs, you can also "drag and drop" from various programs directly into your open pages.

Recommendation: When copying text from another application (Word, Publisher, etc.), we always past the text into Notepad first.  This easily removes all text formatting.  We then paste the unformatted text into FrontPage where we can then format elements we want such as bold, centered, etc.
